This is one of the lakes at Lea Marston, these lakes collect water from the Tame and the canals around Birmingham, Oldbury, Walsall and surrounding areas. These images are from a very small section of the shore side - just look at the brands, advertising their presence. What was really surprising was the amount of plastic toys and rubber ducks which came from this section. The Environment Agency have commissioned me to produce a sculpture to draw attention to some of the issues of this pollution.
I was expecting to see the huge volume of plastic bottles and crisp and sweet wrappers, but from this small section there were six rubber ducks, a plastic turtle, several balls and a dolls head. Someone must have loved this doll, so how does it end its life on the banks of a lake.
The sculptures are being constructed and installed in early August - watch this space
